Lemon Filled

When I was about 12 years old, I was out working with my dad on the graveyard shift cleaning parking lots. At one particular lot we'd finish up right around 5am and there happened to be a donut shop there, which was owned/operated by this Vietnamese dude. NOTHING beats a donut freshly made, which we were privy to the first batch, so fresh in fact that he had to fill it right there in front of us before selling it to us. Before that, my typical donut preference used to be a maple bar, but one day my dad convinced me to try a lemon filled donut and I've been in love ever since. Don't get me wrong, I still love me a good maple bar, but they are all made so differently (different kinds of maple glazes).

I didn't have much time to grab a enough for breakfast this morning, so I stopped by Dan's food on 3300 South and 2300 East, which makes a pretty mean lemon filled donut. This morning's particular batch was mostly Lemon, with a little bit of donut. So much Lemon in fact, that I had to take a picture of it with my camera phone.

Observe:

Dad, you would have been proud. Heck, you may have even shed a few tears of joy. It was delicious.
