Suspicious Cat
So a few weeks ago we went over to our friend James's house to have a little dinner and watch a movie. We ended up watching Across the Universe, which was a good little flick full of Beatles music.
At the conclusion of our visit, we were introduced to one of the quirks of one of their cats, who was always suspicious of the DVD player as it ejected. Enjoy these videos and for a fun little treat, be sure to watch the end of the 2nd video.

Wheather you're a fan of Weezer or not
You have to admit this is a pretty cool idea. They invite fans to try out on youtube for a "hootenany" held in 4 cities (Seattle, Portland, SF, and LA). The fans are all brought to the room with whatever instrument they tried out with (some odd ones too) and they all get to play along and sing along to weezer songs and a few covers, all of which are being recorded.
What other bands are doing that type of thing with their fans?

Check out the videos of the sessions below. Pretty cool.

I wish I could play music
I LOVE music, but I don't know music theory. I don't know really how to read music. I don't know really how to play an instrument. I can strum the following chords: A, C, D, E, F, and G. These are with a basic tuning. I still suck though because I really don't know how to "basically" tune my guitar. I mean, I know how to hold down strings and make them match up to move onto the next string, but I couldn't tell you what note I was tuning it to (is it D???). I really wish I understood it all.
It's not as if I wish I was a rock star (OK.....I do, but not for the sex & drugs portion of it). I wish I could just play well enough to jam in a band and have fun doing it. I wish I understood it.
While watching this project that Rivers is doing, where he's allowing the fans to help him create a song, I wish I had some level of talent to at least TRY to contribute, but I don't. I suck.
Anyway, I'm 31 now, and I have an acoustic guitar and Caiden's little kid drum kit. I'm guessing I could start off with something like that. I have this dream one day that I'll take guitar lessons, or that playing the guitar will just "come easy" when i pick it up. I watch people play on TV, then I think, "that looked easy", then I'll pick up my guitar and I'll attempt to try the basic chords and it will sound like crap.
Anyway, just a rant. I'm just jealous of those people that music comes easy to, or that are creative enough to take a chord and make a song, or are able to hear a song and play the right chords to match up to it.

This is becoming my favorite Weezer song on the red album
It's a song called "Pig" and it's a bonus song toward the end. It's a very sad song, but at the same time kind of funny. It's called Pig because it's about a Pig recounting his life story about playing in the mud, meeting a girl, falling in love, having children, and it being his time to die (I'm guessing going to the slaughter). He also takes time to thank his "farmer pete" for feeding him scraps with a smile on his face. Also, there is a reference to Charlott's Web where he mentions his friend "wilbur".
It's actually sad if pigs actually were smart enough to think like this, but I don't think the song will prevent me from eating my bacon or my baby back ribs. Of course, I'm not too shallow to think that this song isn't actually just about it a pig, it's likely about us as people too.
Lastly, anyone notice the similar sound to Queen in this song? I do.
Play this song in the youtube browser and follow along with the lyrics below.
When I was a baby i was so happy.
I played with my friends in the mud.
Wilbur and Jack and Otice and Beatty,
We were a gang, you got to believe me.
Momma would scold us if we got too rough
She didnt care, she was proud of us.
I ran around and talked to the animals,
Tellin' 'em stories of savage cannibals.
Then I got older and noticed a girl.
At first I was sure I didn't exist to her.
I sulked around but I didn't know why.
Then she put her cheek on my shoulder and I
Was lookin' at her and she was lookin' at me.
We started to smile it was our destiny.
Tina was her name. She was my cutie-pie.
I forgot about the things I used to like.
I spent all my time followin' her around.
My friends all made the whip-lash sound.
But they understood. They was happy for me.
And everyone clapped when I asked her to marry me.
And she said "yes" and we felt so fine.
We lost track of the passin' time.
Before I knew it we had our own babies:
Gina and Shannon and Keebie and Gabe.
But now I've got to die.
I've lived a good life I've got no complaints.
I'd like to thank farmer Pete.
For bringing me scraps of food that I could eat.
He always had a smile on his face.
He didn't want to think of this day.
It's finally here.
It's finally here, oh.
Oo-Oo, they called me Pig.
Oo-Oo, they called me Pig.
When I was a baby I was so happy.
I played with my friends in the mud.

My future daughter
I'm so excited to meet her. I'm so glad she's a girl. I'm so happy to be having a baby with Alene. I'm so excited to be able to take the time to bond with her and the baby and to also allow Alene time to Bond with her.
I'm so anxious to see her and to know her and to see her little eyes, to hear her little cry, and to touch her little feet and hands. It's so scary for me to think that I'll have a daughter. I fear because of how society looks at women these days. I want her to always know that her parents love her dearly and it will always be un-conditional.
We still don't have a name picked out, which is OK. No rush really. I think we'll end up seeing her first, before we decide what her name will be.
I wish the 53 days to Alene's due date would come quicker!!!

Stuff (been busy)
Man, it's been crazy the past month. No time to even blog. I'll try to remember what I've been doing.
Let's see.... We went camping to Canyonlands National Park (trip report to come). We bought a new house and have been trying to get moved in. Caiden has been playing baseball and doing quite well hitting (consistently goes 3-4 batting, although our team has not done so well).
Some recent things: I purchased a REAL downhill bike. I'm excited to get it out, but I need to do a few things to it:
Alene and I went up to Park City this past weekend and stayed at the Westgate resort, which is located at The Canyons ski resort. Her parents have a timeshare there and didn't use it this weekend, so we were able to stay there for free. We went to the Olympic training center and rode the alpine slide (a first for me and it was a blast). Here is some great footage of my ride down:
We also started knocking a few things down here to start a painting project of the house and a room/closet/baby sleeping area/future master bath expansion project.
OK, enough blogging. Time to go chill in the hot tub....Oh, did I mention our house came with a hot tub??? :-)
